How to Create a Perfect Website.
Brainstorm and plan your website
In order to craft an effective web strategy, you will need to know what questions to ask yourself while also taking into consideration why you want to create a site and what type of content you wish to provide.
There are
many different ways to put together a website. Some that are free is difficult
to get things like traffic going in any direction or user engagement.
Facebook
offers something called Flow, which is a tool for creating engaging experiences
between users and apps. You can use Facebook Flow to make it easier to share
posts, comments, and events with your friends and followers.
Google
offers a software platform called Google Suite, which includes a word
processing program, email client and spreadsheet function. It also has hundreds
of templates specifically designed for websites.
In fact, all
of these products are wrappers for one central database. What’s more is that
they’re ad-supported. Your content might be yours to hide or lose if you have
ads running.
That being
said, having a stable, centralized place to maintain your list of projects is
incredibly important. Keeping files organized and sharing frequently used
links saves time at the end of the day.
Determine your branding
Your web name is probably already taken,
but if you are going to be using a domain name that’s definitely not it. Try
out different names as well as combinations of names together.
You can buy
domains or enter subdomains (ex.: myblog.yourdomain.com) to see how they
sound when prompted.
Find your target market
Blogging is not about putting up a website and letting it sit. It’s about finding people to visit you site and get to know you. What you sell, what you offer etc… To do this you have put yourself in the mindset of providing a service to someone else.
These are
all basic concepts but very important things to remember when getting started
with blogging.
If you want
others to find you and start visiting you then you need to work on being
recognized and popular. People don’t become successful through blogging but
instead the other way around. You give them something they want
(recognition, popularity etc…) and they pay you for it.
Being aware
of these ways to promote your blog will only help you gain followers and grow
your business.
Create a vision for your website
In order to have an impressive and professional-looking web presence, you need to know what it is you want your web site to look like and play around with different options until you find something that looks good to you.
But more
importantly, you should have a clear picture of how you will achieve this goal.
You need to
understand your audience and what they expect to see. You need to be confident
in your ability to do what you set out to do and say as much as possible about
why you are doing it.
If you add
illustrations or pictures to your posts, for example, make sure they’re high
quality. If you decide to use color, make sure those colors work together.
Don’t worry
about templates; think instead about what you are going to put on each page and
give everything their own unique style.
Web design
is not just putting things together; it’s also about selecting modules,
objects, and tools that help you in your daily work. By taking the time to
learn some basic computer skills, you can become a better designer and
increase the user experience on your web page.
Define your scope
Before you begin,
it is important to define and establish what your website will be used for. Wherever possible, try
to avoid unnecessary costs and resources that are only there because they were
included in a default package or because people wanted them.
It is also
important to distinguish between necessary services and things which could
reasonably be considered essential for any good web presence. For example,
installing all software from the start would cost money, as would
domain registration (if yours wasn’t already available).
Essential
services can be added onto contract types, while non-essential/contract
items can easily be turned into pre-paid packages if need be. Price points can
be set accordingly to suit customer segmentation.
All of these
prices should be easy to find, but don’t assume that someone knows how much
everything else cost before getting into details about additional features.
Most of the time customers aren’t too bothered about pricing and wouldn’t mind
sharing it after its been explained once.
Also keep in
mind that professional websites don’t necessarily feel the need to be
completely free and functional. If your site has less functionality than
needed, maybe it’s better to have fewer users experience an error screen for
just the right reason.
Organize your web files
In order to
start a website, you’ll need to organize any file copies of your site inside an
archive or media directory. This contains documents, images, videos and other
web content.
You can use
specialized software for this, such as WORDPRESS, which is free but has premium
features; Or you can do it with another computer program like Google Drive and
Dropbox.
The
important thing about having all these files stored in one place is that they
are saved online, so if someone wants to access them, you’re not restricting
their ability to read them because they’re too lazy to go to a search engine.
It also
makes moving forward from now on much simpler since you don’t have to rely
on different people maintaining different parts of the website. The same
version of the document or image gets updated over and over again, which saves
time and effort later when there’s a revision process.
Google Suite
is still the most common platform people use these days, especially students.
For several reasons — including ease of use and cost – I believe Google
Suite to be the best choice for beginning web developers.
Set up a hosting company
When you
register with a host, they give you an online management panel where you
can adjust all of your site’s settings. Most include web design features,
such as color1ing and template layouts.
There are
hundreds of websites hosted by these hosts, so there’s sure to be a good one
for you. You will also need to purchase a domain name, which is what
gives your website its address on the Internet.
You can get
a basic domain name for $12/year or $70 / year after signing up for a
plan. Make sure you consider the cost when choosing a domain name.
Choose a domain name
After
choosing a software to create your website, you will need to find a domain
name. This is the address of your web site, such as
www.mywebaddress.com.
You can
either register yourself for about $10/year or choose a free registration which
lasts one year. It is recommended that if you have limited resources,
you should prefer the first option.
Also, there
are other services providing seo-friendly domains names, so you
should do some research in this area too.
Build a blog
A website is an easy way to make yourself available to your potential customers/clients, for whatever purpose you may have.
But if you
want to promote or advertise your business effectively, you need to put effort
into it.
You can’t
just set up a domain name and start blogging – you has to plan how
you’re going to reach those people and what you’ll say to them.
And you also
has to think about who you’re aiming to get as readers/visitors, and what kind
of style they might find most appealing.
Design is
important too – you should put time and effort into your web design
before publishing a single piece of content.
